Evaluation of the Microclimate in a Traditional Colombian Greenhouse Used for Cut Flower Production

Cut flower production in the Bogotá savanna is one of Colombia’s main export products. Flower mainly carried out greenhouses, as this type system has substantial advantages over crops grown open fields. Protected agriculture provides timely climate management that improves crop yields. The objective work was to build and validate a 3D CFD numerical model understand spatial distribution temperatures because air flow dynamics inside typical greenhouse savanna. Root mean square error (RMSE) absolute percentage (MAPE) were statistical indicators used between experimental simulated wind speed temperature data. simulations considered twelve evaluation scenarios established based on climatic conditions characteristic study region. results indicate under regional for passive greenhouse, there deficient ventilation rate. This rate does not exceed 35 exchanges h?1 compared recommended rates crops, which 45 60 h?1. renewal contributes heterogeneity microclimatic presenting hot spots with values above 32 °C all examined scenarios. For lower (<1 ms?1), these areas high can reach up 50% cultivated area. Therefore, it suggested future studies should seek technical solutions optimize design Colombian floriculture sector.
